Geotab is actively seeking a Product Designer for the Service Design team to develop Geotab's product offerings. You will have knowledge of product design and help us continue to design end-to-end experiences for responsive web or native mobile applications. You are highly organized and are able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. You are also a strong team player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization. What you'll do:
The Product Designer will lead product and service design initiatives, playing a vital role in defining and shaping the end-to-end customer journey and user experience efforts across our products and services. This position will serve as a crucial link between various teams, including product, engineering, marketing, and others, in conducting research, developing, iterating, and enhancing the design and experience for end users. Leveraging expertise in service design thinking, user research, and interaction design, the Service Designer will drive customer-centricity and cultivate customer loyalty by creating seamless and holistic service and product design experiences.
How you'll make an impact:
- Support the design and development of service ecosystems that align with business goals and customer needs.
- Apply service design principles to map customer journeys, identify pain points, and propose holistic solutions across multiple touch points.
- Lead research, ideation, and creation of our application interactions.
- Partner with UX Research, Product Management, Development, and Data Science Team members during design and development to take broad conceptual ideas, understand user needs, and lead the design process into actionable designs and prototypes.
- Utilize service design methodologies, such as customer journey mapping, persona development, and service blueprinting, to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement.
- Map out user flows, wireframes, and prototypes for user testing, feedback, and deployment.
- Dive deep into Customer/User experience to develop deep insights about user behaviours.
- Advocate for user-centric design principles and help embed a customer-focused mindset within the organization.
- Conduct in-depth research to gain a deep understanding of user behaviors, needs, and aspirations.
- Work with cross functional teams to design, build, and roll-out products that deliver on the Geotab vision and strategy.
- Use Design Principles, as well as existing visual frameworks to produce designs that are visually cohesive with the rest of Geotab's products, with a holistic consideration for the product's future.
- Design web applications using industry best practices and existing visual frameworks.
- Support Geotab global strategic initiatives.
- Track design features and fixes from different subject matter experts.
- Maintain compliance with AODA guidelines for site accessibility.
- Conduct concept and usability testing and gather feedback.
- Define the right interaction model and evaluate its success.
- Ensure designs, code, and animations work in different browsers on different devices.
- Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows, and sitemaps.
- Design graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs, and widgets.
- Build page navigation buttons and search fields.
- Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback.
What you'll bring to this role:
- 3-5 years of relevant industry experience.
- 2+ years of experience in an individual contributor role on a product, CX or service design team.
- Experience with service design methods and tools, such as customer journey mapping, persona development, service blueprinting, and ecosystem mapping.
- Knowledge of product design, including common interaction patterns used and associated trade-offs, and best practices for responsive web applications.
- Experience collaborating closely with product management, engineering, and research. Proficiency in UI design and using tools like Figma, Sketch, InVision, Principle, etc.
- Ability to lead all aspects of the user-centered design process from conception to completion.
- Communicate complex ideas, goals, and problems in a way that is accessible even to those unfamiliar with the project.
- Must have the flexibility to adapt to growing technology and market demands. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal relationship building skills.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
- Technical competence using software programs, including but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
- Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
