Job description

We’re Dojo
Since launching Dojo in 2019 to address business owners’ pain points across the UK, we’ve seen incredible growth as a scaling fintech, welcoming over 60,000 new customers and growing the Dojo team to 900+ people across five locations. In that time, we’ve also introduced Dojo Virtual Queues & Bookings and the Dojo restaurant finder app, formerly known as WalkUp and loved by 600 restaurants and 600,000 diners across the UK. .
Today, we work towards our mission to empower businesses to thrive in the Experience Economy by creating the tools and technology that turn transactions into meaningful relationships. For our business customers, that means fast funding, the fastest payments, smart integrations, and efficient virtual queues & bookings - all with instant insight across the board. For over 600,000 diners across the UK, that means getting seated at their favourite restaurants in just a couple of taps on the Dojo app. Whether it’s for busy business owners or hungry diners, every Dojo product is built to address real customer pain points by our dedicated teams in London, Bristol, Hull and Belfast.
The role
We’re looking for a product designer to join our growing product design chapter, as part of the wider product function at Dojo. The role will sit specifically within the Consumer tribe, where our goal is to drive consumers into Dojo payments customers, creating a B2B2C flywheel.
At Dojo we’re mindful that the route into Product Design can be varied and diverse - we like and encourage that, both in terms of experience and our people. What follows is a high level view of the role expectations and reflects those things we value most. That said, we don’t think in terms of years of experience, nor expertise in all that follows, but we are after someone who is driven, humble and will contribute passionately into our design community at Dojo.
What you will do…
  • Own the consumers’ experience of Dojo products (both native and web) - championing the customer and working collaboratively to translate tribe and business objectives into value for consumers
  • Collaboratively influence product strategy and objectives through data and insights, with the intent of positively impacting our consumers' experience
  • Collaboratively lead the UX & UI design for the squad, from user research and problem validation through to the creation of high fidelity prototypes, product QA and solution validation
  • Host and facilitate design based sessions and workshops, from company wide brown bags through to squad based workshops with the intention of driving awareness of consumer needs
  • Actively contribute to our design community at Dojo as part of the PD chapter, where we welcome individuality of thought and diversity of experience
What you will bring…
  • A customer obsessed mindset, balanced with a business awareness and analytical thinking, ensuring our products are desirable and usable, while being feasible and viable
  • A desire to continually master your research and design craft, with the ability to turn around a high quality and dependable standard of work efficiently
  • An ability to deliver at all levels of scale, from the big picture (such as product vision and strategy) all the way through to the surface level (such as component and interface design)
  • Effective communication and storytelling skills (written, verbal, and visual) in order to make memorable and persuasive presentations, to enthuse and motivate
  • An empathetic mindset where you’re primarily focused on the ‘other’ - able to identify and understand other people’s emotions and experience, and crucially take action to resolve problems
Our values
At Dojo, we’re curious. We have an insatiable desire to learn and innovate. And we’re relentless. We persevere even when it’s easier not to. But, we’re nothing without our customers, who drive everything we do. From day one, Dojo was built on real customer pain points and every one of us is customer-obsessed.
Creating a more diverse, equitable and inclusive Dojo
Dojo’s 60,000+ customers reflect the diversity of the UK High Street. Building diverse teams that are representative of that to develop and deliver our business strategy is fundamental to continuing to create innovative products at Dojo. As a result, together, we achieve better outcomes for our customers and for Dojo.
Regardless of age, disability, race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, culture, educational background, parental status, neurodiversity or disability - whoever you are, if you’re passionate about your work, curious, relentless and customer-obsessed, we want to hear from you.
We pride ourselves on fostering a sense of community, which is only made stronger by each individual at Dojo, so you'll have the opportunity to meet a variety of people across levels, teams, and experiences throughout the interview process.
