The opportunity
We are currently recruiting for a Procurement Manager to join Swansway on a fixed term contract for 12 months, there is potential that this role could become permanent in the future. This is a new role for Swansway meaning the suitable candidate will be able to shape this opportunity and therefore will be setting up the requirements and processes in place for group procurement.
Working in a standalone role you’ll be responsible for reviewing, sourcing and negotiating/ renegotiating 3rd party supplier contracts for our head office and dealership network. In this role you’ll be responsible for the procurement for all business services; stationary to annual IT and equipment maintenance contracts as well as energy and utility providers (and everything in between).
Swansway works at pace and decisions are made quickly therefore you’ll need to be able to adapt to every changing situations to deliver.
More about the role
- Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Reviewing current supplier contracts
- Produce periodic progress monitoring and reporting to all stakeholders
- Manage and negotiates supplier contracts
- Provide expert procurement advice to local end-users
- Build collaborative relationships with local stakeholders, acting as initial escalation point for key decision making
- Providing analysis and sign off details for new contract purchases
- Create a centralised log of service contracts/purchasing relationships

- You will have strong management and leadership credentials
- Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that you have excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills, being able to influence and negotiate at all levels both internally and externally
- Prior experience of procurement from a fast paced, ever changing business
- Have good commercial awareness and be a confident negotiator

Founded in 2003 by Michael Smyth and his three sons, David, Peter and John, Swansway has grown from five motor dealerships in Cheshire and the West Midlands to the 20 dealerships we have today. From Birmingham in the South to Carlisle in the North we partner with eleven brands including; Audi, Volkswagen, Land Rover, Honda and many more.
We’re expanding our own-brand, Motor Match our used sites, and we don’t stop at dealerships; we operate four Volkswagen Group Trade Part Centres, an Accident Repair Centre, a Group Fleet Sales Centre and an eBay shop re-cycling obsolete parts. All this is supported by our Head Office in Crewe.
