Our client just outside Lisburn are a successful, innovative engineering and manufacturing business, who specialise in the design and manufacture of a wide range of steel products. They are seeking a dynamic Procurement Manager to join the team.
As Procurement Manager, you will be at the heart of operations, responsible for overseeing end-to-end procurement processes. This role will suit someone ideally from an Engineering/Manufacturing background who thrives in a fast-paced environment, doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty, and isn't afraid to get out onto the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Negotiate best terms ensuring that the supply base and product meet the required business objectives in terms of financial, technical, and customer expectations
- Ensure that formal and up-to-date contracts of trading are in place with all key suppliers
- Run a monthly report showing variances against budget cost standards for key areas of spend together with associated plans to rectify any areas of under-recovery
- Utilise monthly production forecasts and MRP system, to replenish future business needs in terms materials, components and consumables
- Develop formal department buying strategies, that develop a deep understanding of each area of key spend, together with associated short, medium, and long-term proposed procurement plans
- Deliver an efficient Kanban ordering system
- Attend planning meetings and update on required actions as needed
- Develop risk management strategies, with supporting action plans, to minimise any adverse business impact due to supply chain issues
- Lead regular efficient stock take activities
- Lead buying administrators and stock controllers to deliver a Plan for every part required
You Will Need:
- Previous experience as a Procurement Manager, with a solid understanding of sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse complex data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Results-oriented mindset with a passion for exceeding targets and driving operational excellence.
- A hands-on approach, willing to get involved in the day-to-day operations and lead by example
- Experienced in importing raw materials – would be desirable
- Ability to delegate tasks and ensure the full team stays within pre-set rules and limits for purchasing
