ASDA are in the midst of one of biggest retail transformation programmes in Europe. We are currently transforming the entirety of our technology landscape, building on relationships with existing supply partners and forming new relationships.
We are recruiting for a Strategic Contracts Manager role that has responsibility for post-contract and change activity with Technology suppliers with a specific focus on our largest tier 1 outsourcing partner. They will be responsible for implementing contract management practices across this subcategory spend. The sub category is a high complexity area spanning multiple ASDA business units and service lines
About the Role:
- Being the first point of contact for all commercial and contractual issues and escalations, including managing change, contractual obligations, assumptions and commercial risk.
- Own the SRM process for the sub-category – leading commercial aspects of the process and facilitating business / delivery aspects, making sure we have an overall cohesive approach
- Using strong commercial acumen to optimise cost, improve performance and create competitive advantage within existing agreements.
- Working in partnership with the Technology function to drive an aligned programme of improvement
- Building lasting relationships with senior stakeholders across Technology, Procurement, Legal, Governance and Transformation teams, ensuring efficient and compliant contracts are executed.
- Driving continuous improvement of contracting processes and systems, including implementation of industry best practice where appropriate.
- Help hold T1 suppliers to account on all commercial aspects of delivery
- Rigorously manage key contractual obligations and delivery, including structured performance management, commercial risk/change mitigation.
About You:
- Expertise in common types of indirect procurement and outsourcing agreements.
- Experience of managing Technology suppliers
- Commercial acument, and experienced in aspects of commercial and/or contract negotiation.
- High degree of organisation and ability to drive forward multiple strands of work in parallel
- Ability to simplify complex issues and successfully resolve situations where conflicting objectives arise
- Ability to work in an agile manner to flex and support the business needs in a fast-paced transformation environment
- Experience of influencing at multiple levels within a large organisation business (up to senior director level), flexing style as appropriate
Desirable:
- Experience in commercial contract terms, and working knowledge of contract law is desirable
- Procurement professional (qualifications or previous experience)
- Management of Tier 1 IT Vendors
- Experience of large-scale technology transformations
