Job Summary:

The incumbent will lead the process of standardizing all specifications to ensure they meet Tremco standards and are following applicable legislation across Canada.

Responsibilities:

• Develop the WTC General Contracting Specifications, while ensuring they meet all applicable Building Codes and Manufactures Standards. Coordinate with key Program Managers, Construction Managers, Sales (WTC & Tremco Roofing), and Field Technicians to ensure expectations are clear and the work complies.
• Prepare or review addenda and pre-bid documentation.
• Help Estimators understand the specifications for prepared bids and pricing for major building and commercial projects. Along with reviewing scopes of work for the estimators to build line-item proposals.
• Keep WTC Construction Managers informed of products when discontinued or no longer available and provide options.
• Complete all specifications in a timely manner, working closely with the Construction Manager and other parties to ensure they are concise, correct and complete. Ensuring the products being used are compatible to be used together.
• Ensure high quality and accuracy with each specification written.
• Take general scope of work and develop /specification based off the individual scope of work/spec components. Use judgement on proper items are applicable for the project specifications.
• Ensure enough material is being specified on project based on Tremco/manufactures material coverage/usage rates.
• Coordinate necessary field tests for specification development (asbestos, peel tests etc).
• Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformity relating to service, process and quality.
• Keep up to date with all compliance policies to ensure that all specifications and drawings are in line with contract agreements.
• Identify and record any service, process, or quality system problems and provide a solution.
• Verify the implementation of solutions.
• Control further processing, delivery, or installation of non-conforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
• Collaborate with the Product Management Team.
• Become familiar with Tremco Roofing Systems.

Qualifications:

• Associates degree in Architectural Design or equivalent from two-year college or technical school is desired.
• Must be a Certified Specification Practitioner (CSP).
• Must have at least 5 years of commercial Built-up Roofing experience including application of hot and cold applied roofing systems or single ply roof systems to including the ability to evaluate roofing details for development of Tremco compliant specifications.
• Must be able to read blueprints and develop specifications from inspection reports, as built drawings and photographs of roof areas.
• Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form.
• Ability to read specifications, Data sheets, Drawings, code review books, and OSHA requirements.
• Experience with AUTOCAD is an asset.
