Saint Gobain Glass UK-in Eggborough are currently looking for a process operator to join the team at the only UK based Saint Gobain site to manufacture flat glass for the commercial and domestic market. You do not need previous experience in a similar role or this sector as we are open to all backgrounds and believe attitude is the most important factor.

We are also open to flexible hours within this role and will listen to all requests to work around your schedule.

A great Process Operator - Float at Saint Gobain Glass UK will put safety above all else, work well in a team and be enthusiastic about the work they do. What will I be doing in the role?

The successful candidate will find themselves, problem solving to ensure the process remains running smoothly and glass continues to be produced. To support our customers effectively you will be responsible for a number of processes, specialising in either the hot or cold end of the process:

Hot end competencies include:

• Batch – when responsible for this process, you are the person who ensures the right amount of raw materials are input to the furnace to begin the glass making process
• Furnace – when responsible for this process, you are the person who monitors the furnace and ensures the correct temperatures and levels of energy are maintained
• Float – this involves ensuring that the glass cools down at the right levels and flows through to the cold of the process

Cold end competencies include:

• Quality – at various points throughout the day, samples need to be taken to assess the glass
• Cutting – you will be responsible for monitoring the line and its control systems to ensure the glass is within its correct parameters. You will need to regularly check equipment and inspect the glass to ensure it meets specifications. You will need to react to production issues and take measures to bring things back to specification if needed.
• Stacking – here you are responsible for ensuring the safe stacking of the glass onto storage units. You must ensure spacers are placed when required and new storage units are available when needed
