Continuous Improvement Engineer
Position Overview:
The Continuous Improvement Engineer will play a key role in identifying opportunities for process optimisation, implementing lean methodologies, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process engineering, data analysis, and problem-solving and a passion for driving change and achieving operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas of improvement within various processes, systems, and workflows.
· Apply lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles to streamline operations and eliminate waste.
· Conduct data analysis and perform Gemba Walk to identify process bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement and develop actionable recommendations.
· Lead and facilitate improvement projects and initiatives, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to meet project objectives.
· Utilise process mapping techniques to visually represent current processes, identify improvement opportunities, and design future state processes.
· Collaborate with operations teams to create and implement standardised SOPs, work instructions, training programs, and performance metrics.
· Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to address process deviations, quality issues, and non-conformances.
· Drive a culture of continuous improvement by providing training, coaching, and mentoring to employees at all levels of the organisation.
· Monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of improvement initiatives and drive performance accountability.
· Foster a collaborative environment by facilitating cross-functional teams, encouraging knowledge sharing, and implementing best practices.
· Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in continuous improvement and process optimisation.
· Participate in developing and implementing new technologies, systems, and tools to improve operational processes and data analysis capabilities.
· Prepare and present reports, dashboards, and presentations to management and stakeholders to communicate project status, improvements, and performance metrics.
Qualifications and Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in a STEM
· Proven experience in a similar role, driving continuous improvement initiatives and implementing lean methodologies.
· Ideally, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt qualified although in-house lean training through a large organisation would also be considered.
· Strong knowledge of lean principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and process improvement tools.
· Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Excel, with the ability to analyse complex data sets and draw meaningful insights.
· Demonstrated experience in leading improvement projects, facilitating small cross-functional teams, and implementing change management initiatives.
· Solid understanding of process mapping techniques and the ability to design and optimise processes using Lean principles.
· Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to identify root causes and develop practical solutions.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
· Detail-oriented with solid project management skills, including prioritising tasks, managing timelines, and delivering results within established deadlines.
· Experience in the [industry/sector] field is preferred but not mandatory.
· Proficiency in warehouse management system, process modelling and simulation software is a plus.
· Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset with a passion for driving change and achieving operational excellence.
