Position Summary:
Due to strong growth in our business and our commitment to continuous improvement, we have an opening for an industrial process engineer. This position will focus on process design and documentation incorporating lean manufacturing techniques across our facility, with the goal of improving quality and efficiency.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Work cross functionally within the company to identify and prioritize areas for improvement.
- Collect data and perform time studies to analyze current methods.
- Identify and investigate alternative processes and methods.
- Design and implement revisions to work cells, including layout, material storage, workstations, fixtures, and tooling, etc.
- Standardize work instructions for processes in production departments as required.
- Track results to measure progress and routinely report findings to management.
- Assist in sustaining recently improved processes and advancing these processes to other departments if applicable.
- Assist in revising training material and training existing/new employees on lean techniques.
- Provide clear and concise documented Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents on key processes.
- Define and develop routine operational process method, parameters, and procedures.
- Analyze current operational processes to ensure they are consistent, compatible, and effective across functions and groups.
- Recommend and assist in improvements to minimize waste and improve throughput while maintaining product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Gather and organize documentation for process mapping across working groups.
- Aid in working with the core team to get the company ISO 9001 certified.
- Responsible for tracking and frequently auditing processes, procedures and SLAs/OLAs to ensure operational success.
- Work in collaborative manner with Program Managers, Operation Managers, Quality team, and Project Managers on both new business initiatives and improvements to existing business programs to drive improvement in service, quality, and cost.
Skills and Specifications Required:
We require a hands-on professional with initiative, self-confidence, ambition, and the ability to think through problems and implement solutions. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering management and technology or other equivalent manufacturing-related curriculum.
- 5+ years of practical experience in a Manufacturing, Distribution, or Reverse Logistics repair services / value added services environment. May be a combination of internship, co-op, or work experience.
- Experience in ISO and regulatory environments.
- Certification of quality control is a strong advantage (ISO 9000, SOC, etc.).
- Lean Six Sigma experience preferred, demonstrated by successful completion of major improvement project.
- Strong process documentation writing skills along with experience with Microsoft Office applications.
- Motivated to identify waste, propose improvements, and support implementation of improvement projects.
- Must be willing to execute multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to perform work in non-climate-controlled areas on a periodic basis.
