SUMMARY:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Electronics Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our team. As an Electronics Manufacturing Process Engineer, you will play a critical role in driving the design for manufacturing improvement (DFM) process. You will work on new product production releases with engineering, lay out and manufacturing improve manufacturing yields and build quality. You will also work on identifying root causes of failures and analyzing issues throughout all stages of the manufacturing process. These include the surface mount technology (SMT) build and assembly. You will be responsible for implementing corrective actions into the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and other manufacturing systems to ensure efficient and high-quality production. You will help with sourcing 3rd party manufactures and ensuring implementation of corrective actions and process improvements at contract manufacturers.
ESSENTIAL ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive the DFM process to improve manufacturing yields on new designs and on products that have opportunities for improvement.
- Provide process improvement feedback to contract manufacturers and ensure implementation of corrective actions. Participate in the sourcing of new 3rd party manufacturing providers.
- Conduct in-depth analysis and investigation of failures and issues occurring at various stages of the electronics manufacturing process.
- Identify root causes of failures and develop comprehensive solutions to address them effectively.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, lay out, quality assurance, and engineering, to analyze and resolve process-related problems.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the manufacturing processes, equipment, and materials used in electronic assembly.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas for process optimization and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure all corrective actions and process improvements are properly documented and integrated into the MES and other manufacturing systems.
- Monitor and analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction.
- Participate in design reviews and provide input on the manufacturability and efficiency of new products or product changes.
- Collaborate with equipment vendors and external suppliers to resolve technical issues and improve manufacturing processes.
- Train production personnel on new processes, equipment, and techniques to ensure consistent and high-quality manufacturing output.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electronics manufacturing.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing process engineering and/or manufacturing engineering, preferably in the electronics industry.
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes, equipment, and materials, including SMT assembly, soldering, testing, and inspection.
- Proficiency in conducting failure analysis and root cause analysis using tools and methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys, and Ishikawa diagrams.
- Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and other manufacturing software systems is highly desirable.
- Solid understanding of statistical process control (SPC) principles and tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication and people skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement process optimization strategies.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001, IPC standards) and Lean manufacturing principles is a plus.
