We are looking to expand our Private Client practice by hiring a Legal Assistant who can provide support to the Private Client team. Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have some Private Client experience, however it is a good position for law graduates or NQ solicitors looking for law firm experience pre- or post-qualification.
Reporting to the Private Client Director, the Legal Assistant will
- Take responsibility for assigned tasks in the manner of a fee-earning, client-facing case handler under supervision, embracing the independence and personal responsibility required by matters assigned to your care
- Contribute to the effective operation and development of the team and the firm, by aspiring to provide the friendly, high quality service the firm is known for, and meeting and exceeding the expectations of the clients we serve.
What are the key responsibilities?
The Legal Assistant's key responsibilities are to:
- Provide a friendly and confident welcome to our clients
- Volunteer assistance to support other team members without prompting
- Listen carefully and act effectively on written and verbal instructions
- Take calls from solicitors, clients and third parties, and produce accurate notes of the same
- Arrange, schedule, set-up and attend in person and video-based meetings
- Create and edit documents to exacting standards
- Demonstrate competence with document production & communications software
- Learn and reliably use our in-house Case Management system
- Learn, navigate, use and help to maintain online and paper-based filing & retrieval systems
- Take direction for prioritising, organise work efficiently, and working to deadlines
- Learn and adhere to in-house financial accounts rules and legal procedures
- Develop your understanding of the relevant law and legal service frameworks in which our services are delivered.
What skills are we looking for?
- High standard of English grammar and spelling
- Excellent interpersonal & communications skills
- Emotional intelligence in dealing with wide variety of clients
- Comfortable with computer-centric work systems (Word processing, emails, online filing systems, photocopying & scanning)
- Good time management skills
- Legal education & experience desirable but not required
