An exciting opportunity has arrisen, to join Royal Mail as a Privacy Partner. This position looks to position an experienced privacy Subject Matter Expert within the business. The Privacy Business Partner will assess, manage and recommend remedial actions for the units privacy risk posture. Being closer to the unit will allow the Privacy Business Partner to effectively communicate the risk position in relation to the wider business and suggest pragmatic options based on the maturity and complexity of the unit
About the role
The Privacy Business Partner will be responsible for ensuring all elements of RMG’s privacy management programme are embedded within the business unit. By partnering with the unit, they will not only conduct assurance of the controls, but be an ambassador for change, improving the units privacy posture. The Privacy Business Partner will also have oversight of the unit’s Project portfolio, ensuring privacy controls are embedded by design.
The Privacy Business Partner will assess, manage and recommend remedial actions for the units privacy risk posture. Being closer to the unit will allow the Privacy Business Partner to effectively communicate the risk position in relation to the wider business and suggest pragmatic options based on the maturity and complexity of the unit.
The Privacy Business Partner will have to maintain an active relationship with multiple other business stakeholders to ensure their units privacy risk is effectively managed. Working closely with Technology IT Portfolios teams, Cyber Security, Service Delivery, Procurement, Risk and Governance and Internal Audit will be key to success in this role.
About You
The role holder is a member of the Data Protection team who support RMG’s compliance with legal obligations under data protection and privacy laws. The penalties for non-compliance in this area could include regulatory enforcement action, financial penalties and severe reputational damage.
You'll understand RMG’s strategy, its operational and commercial needs and accordingly RMG’s needs for sound information governance and privacy data protection compliance.
You'll partner with Business, understand their objectives and provide pragmatic, commercially sound privacy compliance advice, monitor and manage privacy compliance across the business, third parties, subsidiaries and process whilst understanding the end to end data flow of the solution
You'll Use range of Privacy Assurance Assessments to assess and monitor compliance, test controls and provide strategic recommendations to mitigate privacy risk, in line with RMG’s accountability obligations, supporting the DPO in discharging their duties in relation to the General Data Protection Regulation and all applicable data protection and privacy laws.
Experience:
- Proven experience of working in a data protection environment ADD or similar
- CIPP/E, CIPT, CIPM qualified or working towards (desirable) or similar industry qualifications
- Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills required as the role will include engagement with Senior Management up to and including board members. The successful candidate should be able to present complex and difficult messages clearly and with impact, using a range of approaches to gain commitment.
