Principal Scientist, NGS and Omics Assay Development

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced scientist to lead the development and implementation of cutting-edge NGS and omics technologies in the fields of genomics, single-cell DNA and RNA sequencing, cell and nuclei sorting, and imaging. The candidate brings enthusiasm, intellectual curiosity, scientific rigor, and a deep-rooted desire to innovate in genomics technology. This role is based in the vicinity of Cambridge UK and be primarily in-person, and all applicants will require permission to work in UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of new, cutting edge NGS and omics assays, leveraging the latest research and technologies
- Develop and validate new assays and protocols, ready for scale-up and automation
- Manage teams to complete projects according to time and cost constraints
- Explore the scientific literature to support development of novel tools/methods to support company's overarching goals, independently proposing, then designing sets of experiments
- Provide supervision and training for junior lab member and/or technicians
- Communicate key findings to stakeholders across the company, both written and presentation formats
- Collaborate closely with other team members across the organization
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in molecular biology, genomics or a similar field of biology, physiology, or medicine
- 5+ years post-Ph.D. experience in scientific method development in an industry or academic setting
- Experience and proven track-record in using the Illumina platform, developing NGS-based and omics assays
- Candidates with experience and a proven-track record in (a) low DNA input methods, (b) single cell methods, or (c) automation equipment will be preferred
- Strong leadership, management, and collaboration skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work successfully in a project-based environment, prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, integrate cross-functional issues and balance competing priorities effectively.
