Primary Transport Support Assistant

Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £23,500
Hours: 40 hours per week, Sunday to Wednesday

Acting as an advocate for the Sainsbury’s culture, values and behaviours, The Primary Transport support assistant is responsible for production and analysis of complex financial reporting information, including financial reports, invoices and payments. You’ll need to work collaboratively with other business areas, providing challenge and influence to meet critical deadlines. You’ll be part of a team that’s responsible for correct revenue streams of circa £40m revenue. As part of the role, you’ll need to apply good judgement, to identify root cause analysis and resulting actions as well as resolving complex problems.

Good attention to detail with good reporting and analytical skills.
Ability to influence effectively at all levels (Up to MD level with suppliers).
Knowledge of end-to-end supply chain operations.
Excellent admin and organisational ability.
Ability to work well under pressure and hit deadlines.
Intermediate capability with Microsoft Excel, e.g. able to effectively create and use pivot tables.
Ability to utilise systems to produce accurate business information.
Ability to identify and make recommendations on activities to improve.
Ability to effectively manipulate large amounts of complex data.

What you’ll be doing
Works collaboratively with suppliers, partners and finance to ensure all backhaul requests are cross charged correctly.
Responsible for ensuring all Primary volume is charged correctly to our suppliers. Approx revenue of £41m.
Negotiating rates (within pre-defined parameters) and arranging transport for ad-hoc requests whilst ensuring the delivery of an effective solution.
Responsible for raising invoices to suppliers to ensure accurate and timely payment.
Produce accurate, timely financial reports for the network by collating daily and weekly information and validating this with the depots and third parties, identifying issues and making recommendations/proposals for improvement.
Responsibility for developing systems and routines to collate, monitor and input complex data from multiple sources, e.g. inter-location transfers, KPI reporting, project activity, load failure reports and hub cross charges.
Produce KPIs and challenge inadequate performance from suppliers to ensure high service levels to our depots.
Collate depot returns data from all depots and collaborate with suppliers and Supply Chain to minimise waste and improve availability.
Support the Planning team with booking deliveries into depots.
Influence and manage expectations of depots, suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure a high service level at the best possible cost.
Investigate errors to identify root cause and make recommendations for improvement to prevent reoccurrence.
This list is not exhaustive and, you may be required to undertake any other duties deemed appropriate by your line manager to facilitate the smooth running of the depot.
