Primary teacher (qualified or unqualified)

Primary teacher (qualified or unqualified) Cardiff, Wales

Independent School, Cardiff
Full Time Cardiff, Wales 18.75 - 25 GBP HOURLY Today
Job description

Teacher (qualified or unqualified) - September 2024 start

£26250 - £35000 with 17 weeks holiday per year.

A new independent school will be opening in 2024-25 in central Cardiff. Initially offering primary age education, we are now looking to recruit teachers for the following stages:

  • Reception
  • Year 1&2
  • Year 3&4
  • Year 5&6

We are anticipating each teacher appointed will have a specialist area of expertise (eg., English, maths, sciences, languages, creative/expressive arts) and will teach that specialism across all age ranges.

We are focused on delivering professional graduates who may progress on to study at top universities, enter technical apprenticeships or be the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders. We create a relaxed working environment, teaching in small groups with our own specialist curriculum that is matched to, but significantly exceeds the English National Curriculum Key Stage Outcomes.

All our teachers are partners in our school and paid on a day rate basis. Pay: £150-£200 per day based on experience and expertise. We run a shorter school year than the state sector (35 weeks of teaching), providing an additional month of holiday each year.

All teachers have the opportunity to increase payments by undertaking wrap-around care duties (supervision of breakfast club, after-school care) and within our own tuition service for students (£1000/year/pupil).

You do not need to be a qualified teacher to work with us (although qualified teachers are welcomed as well). We are especially keen on welcoming experienced professionals or teaching assistants looking for the next stage in their career. All new teachers complete a training course with us prior to commencing teaching and are supported with a mentor and development plan. All candidates must hold an undergraduate degree with at least a 2:1 class but this does not need to be in education.

All posts are subject to an Enhanced Background Check.
