Primary Care Project Manager, Band 7

2 x Permanent/full time positions

Based in Herefordshire & Worcestershire with hybrid working

An opportunity has arisen for two motivated individuals to join the Primary Care Team in Herefordshire & Worcestershire ICB. The post holders will have a pivotal role within the busy Primary Care Team, which will also include supporting the Heads of Primary Care (Transformation & Delegated Commissioning) and the Team, to ensure that their work stream of programmes is planned and managed effectively and take the lead in assisting in their successful delivery.

The post holders will have experience in leading projects and will also be familiar with change management. This will be crucial in ensuring delivery of key functions in a fast paced environment.

The role will require travel across the 2 counties in order to support the wider Primary Care agenda, with a hybrid working policy in place whereby the post-holder will be able to work from home.

This role supports functions across the Primary Care Directorate as well as supporting wider Primary Care. The role will be instrumental in supporting the development of local policy and strategy development.

NHS Herefordshire & Worcestershire Integrated Care Board (ICB)is part of the H&W Integrated Care System (ICS) and is responsible for improving health outcomes for our local population, reducing health inequalities, and supporting broader social and economic development.

The ICB does this through ensuring more effective joined up working with local partners across health, social care, voluntary and community sectors. It will allocate almost £1.5 billion of NHS resources and ensure that services are in place to deliver the ambitions that are jointly agreed with local partners.

H&W ICB is responsible for the delegated commissioning of Primary Care, with 79 practices across the two counties, as well as the new commissioning responsibilities for Pharmacy, Optometry and Dentistry.

The roles are specifically assigned to work in the Primary Care Team, the roles will be instrumental in supporting the development of local policy and strategy development with regards to:

  • Support General Practice (Place)/Integrated Care Board/System to develop transformational service change and improvement across the Primary Care spectrum; to provide professional managerial support and leadership to complement the clinical leadership structure.
  • Support, guide and advise General Practice to ensure that the voice of General Practice is heard, and the interests of patients and the community remain at the heart of discussions and decisions.
  • Support in ensuring good governance always remains central.
  • The postholders will have lead responsibility for specific projects which may include aspects of the workforce agenda, weekly communications with practices, General Practice transformation and sustainability.
  • The postholders also assist in the development of local service commissioning eg local enhanced services as well as monitoring.
  • Improving and increasing access to Primary Care services and the delivery of the Fuller Stocktake are key priorities for all Team members.
