Practice Manager – Kingswood Surgery, Tunbridge Wells - £50,000 DOE

As a result of our current practice manager’s decision to retire, an opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, full-time Practice manager to take over the leadership of this busy practice and be accountable to the partners on a day-to-day basis for its operational and stakeholder management, as well as achieving its overall strategic direction.
Kingswood Surgery is located near the centre of Tunbridge Wells, on the Kent/East Sussex border, and is within easy access of the A21. It has been established in partner-owned premises at its present location since the early 1960’s.
The partnership currently consists of five partners, supported by a clinical team of five salaried GPs, two paramedic practitioners and a practice nursing team of three nurses an HCA and a Phlebotomist.
The admin team is led by the Practice Manager, who is supported by a deputy practice manager, finance manager, lead medical secretary and lead receptionist as heads of department.
Collectively, the practice has a total headcount of c.37 staff.
We also have a proactive and supportive Patient Participation Group, who represents the interests of our patient population of approximately 11,400 patients.
In addition to being part of the Tunbridge Wells PCN, Kingswood is a training practice to trainee GPs and medical students. At our last CQC inspection (2016) we were rated as ‘Good’ with high QOF Achievement.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following aspects of the business.
- Strategic development and financial planning of the practice: ensuring opportunities for the development of the practice are maximised
- Maximising income streams and ensuring cost efficiencies for the practice to ensure long term financial stability
- Leadership and delivery of change and performance management
- Improving the patient experience, including a focus upon access
- Accountable for the management of finances
- Ensuring CQC compliance on behalf of the partnership
- Responsible for the receipt and management of all received complaints
- IT
- Liaison with local bodies such as PCN/ICB/Secondary Care/LMC; including representing the practice at local and area level
- Engagement with practice accountants
- HR management supported by one of the GP Partners
- Leadership and management of practice staff; ensuring a cohesive, stable and well-motivated workforce
- Engagement with the practice’s Patient Participation Group
- Practice Data Protection Officer: overseeing day to day compliance with GDPR
Salary will be dependent on experience but circa £50k Negotiable.
Person Specification
Essential
Proven track record of managing an organisation and its staff
Proven track record of financial management
Excellent written and oral communication
Proficient in the use of IT systems such as Microsoft Office
Desirable
General Practice experience
Understanding of Primary Care
Understanding of EMIS Web consulting system
