Job description
We are currently seeking a full time Poultry Worker in the Horncastle area,
Lincolnshire to help with day to day duties on our Free range egg farm.
You will be joining a small dedicated team on a new automated 32,000 bird free
range unit. You will be motivated, have a willingness to learn and have a desire to
improve flock performance.
Your role will involve all aspects of daily tasks and record keeping. This can be a physically demanding job, it involves working in a dusty environment and you will have to handle chickens and eggs!
This is a temporary - permanent role for the right candidate – 39 hours per week basic plus overtime.
Monday-Friday and alternate weekends
Due to the rural location of the farm, your own transport is essential to be able to get
to work.
Main Duties:
- To proactively maintain birds to a high standard through:
- Ensuring that stock has access to fresh water and a feed ration to maintain
full health, vigour and production. Ensuring that birds have an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area. Making sure that birds are free from pain, injury or disease by ensuring preventative measures or rapid diagnosis and treatment. That birds are provided sufficient space and proper facilities.
- To observe all hygiene rules, this includes personal hygiene, hand washing,
boot dipping/changing and the wearing of all protective clothing. To strictly adhere to all bio-security rules.
- To ensure that floor eggs are kept to a minimum by training birds to use the
nest boxes. To collect and record egg collections neatly and accurately
- Maintain house hygiene, dusting, light fitment cleaning, sweeping up, friable
litter and clean boot dips. Keep clear records of water and feed used along with environmental records of climate etc. To help manage and maintain a clean and tidy workplace and wider site.
- Range maintenance and other general duties which may also relate to our
arable farm as required. Salary based on age and experience, no experience necessary as training will be given but may be an advantage. Full clean driving license required.

Salary: £18,000.00-£24,000.00 per year
