Job Title: Poultry Farm Manager wanted for 180,000 Bird Site in Bath, Somerset

We are a family-owned business seeking a Poultry Farm Manager with a proven track record of managing a large-scale poultry farm and an unwavering commitment to bird welfare. As our Farm Manager, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our 180,000-bird site in Bath, Somerset, and ensuring that our birds are healthy and thriving.

Job Description:

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the poultry farm operations to ensure bird welfare is prioritised
  • Monitor and maintain the highest standards of ventilation, heating, feed, water, litter, and lighting in accordance with agreed standards
  • Order necessary supplies for the farm
  • Ensure the security of the site is maintained at all times
  • Ensure compliance with Red Tractor Assurance Scheme
  • Accurately record and document all required data for compliance and in-house data analysis

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in flock management on a poultry farm
  • A strong team player with exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with an assistant manager and communicate remotely with a family team who are based in Shropshire.
  • Excellent knowledge of the legislation and auditing requirements of poultry units
  • Ability to negotiate with suppliers and to order necessary supplies for the farm
  • A stickler for detail, cleanliness, and high standards of biosecurity measures
  • To be able to efficiently operate a telehandler
  • Ability to work independently and carry out manual duties with minimal supervision
  • Flexible approach to working hours
