We are a family-run, local small business specialising wood-fired sourdough pizza. We're all about teamwork, enjoying work and have the goal of becoming Teesside's top pizza place with top notch service, an unmatched atmosphere and the best pizzas.
We're looking for a hard-working and trustworthy individual to expand our team and improve weekend efficiency. The ideal candidate will be able to follow instructions well, use their initiative to increase productivity and are keen to assist any of the other staff where required.
No experience necessary, full ongoing on-the-job training will be provided.
We believe in offering entry-level opportunities to younger individuals looking to branch into a workplace atmosphere, so it would be a good opportunity for a school leaver to gain some working skills and experience.
Main Role and Responsibilities:
- You will be our designated kitchen porter / pot washer and staff assistant.
- You will be responsible for washing, drying and putting away pots, keeping the kitchen and pot wash room clean, particularly the sinks, touch points, fridges, door handles etc. You will also ensure the main walkway is mopped clean, dry and free of obstructions to maintain safety when travelling front to back of the building.
- You will be in charge of operating the dishwasher and so need to regularly check the dish wash detergent and rinse aid levels under the sink and refill / replace when at low capacity. You will also be shown how to safely deep clean the dishwasher, which is required daily.
- You will assist with the end of day kitchen and store room clean down, emptying and cleaning the bins, cleaning the walls and shelves, organising the kitchen shelves and so forth.
- You will be expected to take orders over the phone when other staff are busy and the order phone rings, giving realistic ETA's by communicating with the other staff and considering the delivery distance, if it's a delivery. Full guidance on our process will be given.
- You are open to communicate with customers, even serving / assisting customers where necessary say, if a walk-in wants a takeaway and the other staff are busy, you will happily take their order.
- Demonstrate an ongoing high-level of housekeeping and cleaning standards.
Shifts to be covered are Fridays, Saturdays 5-10PM, and Sundays 5-10PM. The occasional weekday will be open to cover staff absence.
PAYE weekly on Fridays. Wage dependant on age. Will receive share of the tips proportional to hours worked.
£5.20 / Hr (16-17)
£7.50 / Hr (18-20),
£10.20 / Hr (21-22),
£10.50 / Hr (23+)

25% off staff discount for when not on shift, for you and up to 3 additional persons. This cannot be used while you are on shift for others.
We like to spread the gospel of artisan sourdough pizza making so you will have the chance to receive ongoing on-the-job training sessions showing you the dough handling, base pressing, stretching and spinning, topping, putting on peel, launching in oven from peel, wood-fired oven operation, pizza peel handling, stone bake pizza cooking, even dough making, dough balling for those interested in an eventual higher-payed opportunity of becoming an artisan pizzaiolo.
