Summary of the Process Engineer role
As the Process Engineer you will work as part of the Project Engineering team reporting directly to the Lead Process Engineer.
You will carry out process engineering design, costing, procurement, installation, hand-over and commissioning of new capital/revenue projects and provide technical support to manufacturing facilities and new business development.
Your responsibilities
- Establishing design proposals within legislation, safety, quality and environmental standards.
- Taking full part in EHS studies and accident/incident investigations as appropriate.
- Conducting HAZOP studies as a team member or HAZOP study leader.
- Ensuring compliance with COMAH critical aspects of the Process Safety Management System and Major Accident Prevention Policy where relevant to your area of responsibility.
- Carrying out detailed process engineering design studies for capital/revenue projects and new product introduction.
- Developing project scope and detailed design specifications.
- Specifying and selecting new process equipment.
- Developing and agreeing control philosophy.
- Conducting feasibility studies to support product expansion and new business development.
- Supporting production in optimisation, operational troubleshooting and project commissioning.

- Carrying out project management, project engineering, cost estimation and cost control activities on appropriate projects.
- Revising and preparing appropriate standards and procedures as required.

Requirements for the role
- Must have a degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role is essential.
- Good technical knowledge and application skills of batch chemical production.
- Have an understanding of quality requirements for pharmaceutical manufacture.
- Good organisation and management skills.
