Job description
UE07: £35,333.00 - £42,155.00 Per Annum.
College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine / School of Molecular, Genetic and Population Health Sciences / Institute of Genetics and Cancer.
Fixed Term Contract - 3 years from April 2023 (later start date can be considered); Full Time - 35 Hours Per Week.
We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow.
The Opportunity:
The Wilkinson laboratory seeks a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. This post is available from April 2023 for three years (salary of £35,333-£42,155, dependent upon experience).
Selective autophagy of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER-phagy) is emerging as a fundamental pathway in maintenance of cellular health. Furthermore, our laboratory has identified aberrations in ER-phagy during formation and progression of cancer. However, our view of the molecular composition and function(s) of the ER-phagy pathway is incomplete, especially in physiologically relevant settings.
We have recently completed a comprehensive integrated proteomic and genetic screen for novel facilitators of ER-phagy. Using cutting-edge cell biological, biochemical and omics techniques, the candidate will uncover the mechanism of action of these molecules and their role in integrating control of ER-phagy with other cellular phenomena such as proteasomal and transcriptional regulation of ER homeostasis.
Overall, the work will contribute to a larger, high-quality program of research designed to address the mechanisms and functions of ER-phagy, hosted within a dynamic laboratory at the forefront of this field.
