Job description
We are looking for a talented and highly motivated Postdoctoral researcher to investigate the role of the tumour microenvironment in pancreatic cancer.
The project aims to characterise immune cell infiltrates in the pancreatic tumour microenvironment and assess their impact in pancreatic cancer progression and the anti-tumour immune response. The project involves in vitro co-culture cell assays, primary cell isolation, gene expression profiling, immunofluorescence microscopy, and mass and flow cytometry analysis. The position requires good knowledge in one or more of the following fields: cancer biology, tumour microenvironment, immunology. Experimental skills and experience in molecular, cellular biology and mouse tumour models are desirable. The post holder will join a vibrant cancer research laboratory which is part of the Department of Molecular and Clinical Cancer Medicine, and the Institute of Systems, Molecular & Integrative Biology (ISMIB), University of Liverpool, UK. ISMIB offers a number of high-quality shared facilities, which will be used to complete the project. The successful candidate will interact and collaborate with scientists and clinicians with diverse backgrounds inside and outside the department and take part in research activities that include cancer biology, immunotherapy, in vivo mouse models, pre-clinical in vivo imaging, and omics-based approaches.
You should have completed a PhD in Cell Biology, Cancer Medicine, Immunology or other related discipline, with excellent research track record by the start date of this post (1st Sept 2023). You will be responsible for taking decisions regarding the project, obtaining data and planning future experiments. It is expected that you will be an innovative individual with an interest in applying your research skills to a challenging project, and willing to learn new techniques. You will also be expected to publish your results in a peer-reviewed journal.
