The Role: Port Manager; Scotland (Ayr & Troon)

Purpose:
The Port Manager is responsible for the efficient, and service focused, day to day delivery for both Ayr and Troon ports located in Scotland.
Accountabilities:
Strong partner skills are key in achieving and developing strategic commercial objectives across the Northwest and Scotland. Continually seeking new development opportunities for the Region’s portfolio with a good understanding of the Scottish law and local government is paramount.
Be able to drive and improve current working practices and innovative technologies.
Produce outstanding results both professionally and personally by directing and leading all aspects of all port services in accordance with the strategic objectives.
Achieving operational excellence and continuous improvements with the end-to-end requirements of the role. Health and safety compliance is aligned to port operations for sustainability.
About you:
You will be a strong leader/ mentor with good influential skills. A Commercially adventurous individual, with a track record of leading teams successfully within an operational environment. It is critical you have both a strong work ethic and highly collaborative style.
As no day will be the same, you will be able to work with unpredictability and use initiative and focus to deliver results.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
Essential
- Previous Health & Safety responsibilities (ideally IOSH or NEBOSH). A recognised health and safety qualification and/or a member of a professional health and safety organisation would be an advantage
- Experience in an operations Management role with a consistent track record of building and leading successful teams
- Effective communication skills, energy, and enthusiasm with the ability to self-motivate and work closely with core business functions across multiple locations.
- Shown experience in maintaining relationships and service level agreements with external partners.
- Able to complete business plans that gives to the development of group strategy.
- Able to present/communicate complex and analytical information to all levels of the business and facilitate a mutual understanding of the content at an individual level.
- Experience of dealing with members of the public
- Validated experience in delivering improved efficiency and financial performance initiatives in an operational environment.
- Willingness to travel to other ABP port locations and business travel UK wide and be flexible with time management to suit the challenging operational requirements across the business units.
- Full UK driving licence
