We have a brand new, exciting opportunity for a Political Risk Analyst who will sit within Global Investment Strategy Team (GIS), led by the Chief Strategist. This team is responsible for top-down research to support decision-making across the global investment platform, and for creating thought leadership and actionable market insights for clients, partners, and key stakeholders. The role has significant scope for high business impact and strong career development over time.
In this role, you will:
- Conduct global political and country risk analysis/research with a focus on macroeconomic and investment market implications
- Produce and conclude global political risk scenarios and communicate them to customers and internal teams
- Support the head of the team and Macro & Investment Strategist to develop and maintain a research, analytics and risk framework for the team
- Communicate the team’s views on the potential economic and financial market implications of political developments to the multi-asset platform, fixed income, equities and credit teams
To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
We are looking for a talented, ambitious, and intellectually-curious investment writer to join HSBC Asset Management’s global investment strategy team.
- Bachelors degree with Politics/International Relations/ History as a key focus. Economics graduates with a strong interest in politics. Masters degree an advantage
- Experience working within a politics or country risk focused role, ideally in a financial institution/consultancy/think tank
- Clear understanding of global political risk and strong desire to link this to investment markets
- Advanced drafting abilities essential – able to write clearly and concisely on geopolitical developments with a focus on potential financial market and macroeconomic implications
- Able to adapt written and verbal presentation to the level of the intended audience, ranging from retail clients to experienced investment professionals
This is a Hybrid working role with the base location as Birmingham. The successful candidate may be required to travel to this location.
