Planning Manager
Castle Donington
We currently have an exciting role for a Planner Manager, providing an excellent opportunity to join the Moran Logistics team at our Castle Donington site. The role works days, working 40 hours per week and offers excellent rates of pay.
About the Role:
The Planning Mnager is responsible for the day to day management of the planning function and team. Ensuring all collections/ deliveries are planned for the customer, ensuring customer requirements are met and all additional work is built into the required routes and plans.
Also responsible for the management and lead of strategic planning for the business, ensuring network optimisation across the national operation. Aspects of the role are also identifying search areas for new opportunities within the region.
As a planning manager, you will be:
- Responsible for ensuring the management of the provisional plan on a daily basis
- Working with the Senior Management Team and Operational Teams across the business to ensure the reporting of planning KPIs and other planning requirements
- Ensuring the team obtain all booking references from customers and entered onto the plan on a daily basis
- Manging the planning team to ensure all routes on the daily schedule are checked ensuring additional work is booked in and any changes to make routes/deliveries more efficient, such as combining routes to fill empty running, saving drivers, nights out is reviewed and changes made as needed.
- Managing complex site queries in relation to planning issues.
- Responsible for managing the generating of improvements to operational site base plans that improve network efficiencies – reduce cost and improve revenue margins
- Ensuring all internal customers are advised of any changes to the base plan or the schedule and that these changes are clearly communicated within agreed timescales.
- Liaising on a daily basis with customer to secure backhaul loads and ensure required changes are made as needed.
- Responsible for the management of the planning of new work, changing routes and investigating ways in which we can improve the network, improve efficiency and make cost savings for the business.
- Working with internal customers to support them in dealing with planning issues and how to work together to resolve them.
- Ensuring all site gant charts are challenged and updated as required
- Responsible for ensuring all planning is uploaded onto company TMS system.
- Managing the team of Planners on a day to day basis, including dealing with all HR issues and ensuring the planning function is fully covers during periods of absence
What we are looking for:
- At least 3 years’ experience within a Logistics environment working in a planning arena
- Highly computer literacy in office applications including word, excel, powerpoint and outlook
- The ability to demonstrate excellent customer service and evidence of strong relationships with customers
- Experience of working with KPIs to drive process improvements
- Evidence of service level improvement and change management
- Strong influencing and negotiating skills
- Project management experience
- Strong processoriented mentality and an eye for detail
- Able to prioritise workload and proven ability to deliver on objectives
- Must be able to be flexible to travel
