Job description
An exciting opportunity to play a central role in the artistic planning and administration of the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
The BBC Symphony Orchestra is one of the UK’s leading orchestras, performing a distinctive range of classical music at the very highest standard. It is Associate Orchestra at the Barbican, where it gives an annual season of concerts, and it provides the backbone of the BBC Proms, with up to a dozen concerts each year in addition to making studio and commercial recordings, and performing overseas. The vast majority of its concerts are broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and online, many live. It performs regularly with the BBC Symphony Chorus.
The BBC SO also regularly works in non-classical projects with its Creative Artist in Association Jules Buckley, including with artists as varied as Lianne La Havas, Patrick Watson Moses Sumney, & Paul Weller. It also has collaborated with individuals from outside the classical music world like Professor Brian Cox, Armistead Maupin, Dame Jacqueline Wilson, Neil Gaiman and David Sedaris in recent years.
Artistic Planning lies at the heart of the BBCSO’s operation and this post services that operation, assisting the Director, Planning Manager and Chief Producer in realising the artistic strategy of the orchestra.
