Job description
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our physiotherapy team. As a physiotherapy assistant you will work within the team to deliver high quality rehabilitation for patients with complex neurological disabilities. This involves working in an outpatient setting as part of a wider multidisciplinary team with in a rehabilitation unit You will deliver hands-on physiotherapy treatments under the supervision of a qualified therapist and will help patients to optimise their ability to move and be independent in their daily lives. You will also support the team with administrative, maintenance and organisational tasks.
Key responsibilities within this role include assisting physiotherapists in assessment and rehabilitation sessions, carrying out prescribed rehabilitation plans, leading exercise groups and non-clinical duties including maintaining equipment and stock levels and general administrative tasks. Key skills required for this post are excellent communication and organisational skills as well as an enthusiasm to learn and support patients to reach their potential.
The outpatient physiotherapy team at the Oxford Centre for Enablement are an experienced and friendly group of professionals. Main Duties:
- Working within a multidisciplinary team to support patients with neurological impairments that affects their movement, thinking and communication skills, to regain independence in their daily lives.
- Supporting patients to practice exercises and functional tasks that will help their ability to move their arms and legs, which may include exercises in the hydrotherapy pool.
- Supporting therapists in therapeutic manual handling tasks to ensure staff and patient safety.
- Monitoring patient performance and response to treatments and seeking help or advice from qualified therapists as required.
- Monitoring stock levels and cleaning and maintaining therapy equipment as well as supporting the physiotherapy team in administrative tasks such as data collection and contacting patients.
- Participating in team meetings, learning opportunities and service evaluation and development projects.
- Maintaining accurate patient records and work within trust safety policies.
