Ward/Dept: Therapies

Hours: Full time – Up to 37.5 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm

Pay Rates – Day: £24.38

The Role

The opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and innovative Physiotherapist to join our Acute Neurosciences Therapy team. The post holder will work collaboratively with the dynamic multi-disciplinary team on the acute neurosciences ward to deliver early high-quality specialist physiotherapeutic assessments and rehabilitation. They will manage a clinical caseload of highly complex neurosurgical and neuro-medical patients and provide specialist support and advice to patients and their families and carers.

The Responsibilities

If you are successful in your application to this post, you will be expected to manage and deliver on the responsibilities outlined below – as well as those not included here, call today to discuss further:

  • To provide high quality, safe and effective Physiotherapy services, as part of an effective multi-professional team to patients requiring acute neuroscience care.
  • To work collaboratively with patients and their carers to effectively assess, goal plan and treat patients following admission to hospital and strive to maximise their independence and quality of life.
  • To assess and treat the neuroscience patient including a complete neuro assessment and be able to select appropriate interventions and discharge planning.
  • To assess and treat routine respiratory symptoms that patients present with on the ward.
  • To assess and treat routine spinal cord injured patients including cauda equina, laminectomies, ACDF.
  • To work effectively and timely with the therapy team and wider MDT.

To be successful in applying for this role you will need:

The locum must have previous NHS experience in an acute setting and have worked in the field of neurology/ neuroscience/stroke

Basic respiratory skills are also required however some refresher training could be offered

Experience in mobilising patients with mobility aids and progression on mobility aids

The locum should have experience of assessment and treatment and discharge planning in an acute setting
