Veritasium is one of the largest physics and science education YouTube channels in the world, with content spanning a decade and more than 2 billion lifetime views. We create videos for a curious, engaged audience that never stops asking the big questions.

We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Digital Video Editor to join our remote production team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for physics, experience in creating high-quality digital video content, and proficiency in video editing software. The Editor will be reporting to the Producer and responsible for creating engaging and informative videos that will help explain complex physics concepts to a broad audience. Ideally, the Editor would also have skills in shooting and be on set to allow for a deep understanding of the footage to make the edits flow smoothly and the videos even more seamless.

Tasks

• Edit and produce high-quality videos that incorporate live-action and animation footage, utilising video editing software and collaborating with animators
• Work closely with the on-screen talent to ensure all video content is accurate, informative and engaging
• Attend shoots as a camera operator, possibly requiring international travel
• Ensure that the channels visual language and editing style built over the last decade is continued within all future edits
• Edit YouTube Shorts and other originals and cutdowns for non-YouTube platforms
• Manage and organise video footage, assets and archives
• Stay up-to-date with video editing software and techniques

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in video editing and accompanying showreel, with an emphasis on digital content creation and experience with YouTube
• Advanced proficiency in video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, and other related software
• A strong understanding of YouTube and other social media platforms and how to optimise content for those platforms
• A passion for physics and science with the ability to communicate complex concepts to a broad audience; previous experience working with science material is a must
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
• Experience with self-shooting or working as part of a small camera crew is a big plus
