POSITION SUMMARY
Are you an avid sports fan with a passion for photography? Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced, creative environment? The Photo Editor (Sports) position is responsible for sourcing, selecting, cropping, and placing analog and/or digital images for Upper Deck’s award-winning sports card products. Additional tasks include editing and labeling photography received from Upper Deck photographers, maintenance of the image library database, scanning artwork or reflective art, and intermittent color correction. Occasional assistance with photo shoot events and archival review of institutional or personal collections may also be required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Proficient at editing, correcting, and optimizing images for high quality print publication.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the NHL (other sports and Entertainment is also beneficial).
- Support and adhere to internal Photo Department procedures and guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining the Sports Image Database as needed. Image assets need to be organized, inventoried, and accessible in a concise and efficient manner. The ability to identify, differentiate and categorize images depending on end usage is essential.
- Professional demeanor; team player orientation. Ability to interface with internal parties at all levels.
- Hands on, energetic and motivated self-starter with the ability to work additional hours as required.
- Acts as a liaison to departmental personnel to track player lists and requested changes.
- On an on-going basis, ensure we are maximizing our technology resources.
- Proficiency in the following software or systems: Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office and Excel.
- This position will interact closely with the Photo Manager, other Photo Editors, Production Artists and related team members. Professional and effective communication with supervisors and other departments, using both written and verbal skills is required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent. College Degree a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in publishing, photography, sports or entertainment information, to include verifiable Photoshop skills.
- Strong communication skills with good attention to detail.
- Professional demeanor; team player orientation. Ability to interface with internal parties at all levels.
- Effective organizational skills with the ability to concurrently handle multiple, high-priority projects.
- Ability to perform duties under minimal supervision while exercising reasonable discretion and independent judgment.
- Manage time effectively, prioritizing duties, tracking assets and meeting deadlines. Ability to maintain flexible work hours based on production requirements.
- The qualified applicant must possess acceptable computer skills; a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite would be beneficial.
- Some familiarity with trading cards is preferred.
- Limited travel on behalf of the Company, with local convention attendance.
