We are looking for a phlebotomist to join our community nursing team in Bath and North East Somerset!
You will have the chance to provide phlebotomy and associated care, advice and support to housebound service users in their own homes. You will work collaboratively with the district nursing team to meet the needs of each patient and follow policies and procedures when visiting patients in their own homes and care homes.
This role is part time, where you will work 14 hours across the week. We are flexible in how you work these hours between Monday to Friday; including the option to work either 2 days a week between the hours of 9-4pm or between 8:30 and 3pm with the option of shorter shifts across 3 days a week.
You will be predominantly based in Keynsham Health Centre however due to the nature of this role you will be required to travel within the Bath and North East Somerset area between patient’s houses.
Main Responsibilities- Work as part of the phlebotomy service, delivering care to patients in the community.
- Undertake duties that will generally be routine in nature and carried out on a day to day basis.
- Carry out the primary purpose of routine phlebotomy and blood pressure monitoring which will be set out in agreed care plans, or work plans or as directed by registered colleagues.
- The role may develop to undertake an extended range of procedures such as ECG and patients’ weight recording, training will be provided to have knowledge and the related competency to undertake these. Additional relevant training and support you to do your job will be provided.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Able to record accurate information on the patient record.
- Work within the boundaries of legislation, policies, procedures and standards.
- Have a valid driving license and access to a vehicle
You will be able to work well as part of a team but feel comfortable with following instructions from other team members. You will have a naturally empathetic and caring approach to communicating with patients and families. Though not essential, it would be desirable if you had previous phlebotomy skills.
