About the Practice/Department/Team
Lakeside Healthcare at Yaxley is a well-established surgery with a list size of over 18,000 which is growing. We achieve full QOF points, and have been awarded the RCGP Quality Practice Award twice. The practice adopted a Doctor First access system in 2012 for all GP and Nurse Practitioner/Emergency Care Practitioner appointments.

Working within the South Peterborough PCN you will be part of a forward-thinking Primary Care Network comprising of four practices across South Peterborough. Job Introduction
We are looking for a Pharmacy Technician to join our developing multidisciplinary team across South Peterborough Primary Care Network (PCN).
The role of pharmacy within General Practice is part of an existing programme of transformation which is underpinned by the NHS Long Term Plan.
This innovative role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to support and work within the Lakeside Healthcare Pharmacy Team to ensure safe and effective use of medicines for its’ patients whilst working in line with evolving requirements of PCNs.

What you will do (not exhaustive)
This is an innovative role to work within the Lakeside Healthcare Pharmacy team to ensure safe and effective use of medicines for patients within Lakeside Healthcare.
- Medicine reconciliation from clinic letters.
- Take a central role in the clinical aspects of shared care protocols and ensuring prescribing in practice is in line with ICB Formulary.
- Medication reviews.
- Support Clinical Pharmacists with general prescription requests and medication queries to allow them to review the more clinically complex requests.
- Participate in practice meetings to improve engagement of the role of pharmacy technician within the Lakeside Pharmacy model and to promote issues relevant to prescribing e.g. antimicrobial stewardship and improving quality of prescribing.
- Undertake training and development, to ensure the required knowledge and skills for practice-based work e.g. continuing development through CPPE Pathway.
- Assist in the delivery of medicines optimisation incentive schemes and audits relating to MHRA alerts, drug monitoring and other patient safety initiatives, including high risk drug monitoring for all patients.
- Develop relationships with other pharmacy technicians, pharmacists and members of the multi-disciplinary team to support integration of the pharmacy team across health and social care including primary care, community pharmacy, secondary care, and mental health.
Essential Criteria
- BTEC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences
- Professional Registration with the GPhC
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Experience of working as a Pharmacy Technician in community, hospital or Primary Care

Salary: £24,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
