The Skinners’ Kent Academy Trust is seeking to appoint an exceptional Deputy Head of Sixth Form from September 2023. The successful candidate will provide inspirational leadership and outstanding learning opportunities that enable children to achieve the highest standards. Ideally, candidates with English, Maths and Science are desirable. This position will afford an individual the opportunity to join an energetic, innovative collaborative pastoral team.
Key Responsibilities
The following responsibilities are in additional to the requirements of a class teacher and any other agreed responsibility:
- To support the Director of Sixth Form with providing strategic leadership of the Academy, policy-making, planning, evaluation
- To ensure that effective tracking of students’ progress is in place throughout the key stage; through accurate identification, any underperformance is supported by intervention programmes whose impact is closely monitored.
- Working alongside the Director of Sixth Form to create and deliver on a Sixth Form Action plan, based on an annual Sixth Form Review
- Oversee the day-to-day role of Head of Year for Years 12 and 13 in monitoring of KS5 attendance, behaviour and rewards.
- To work with Sixth Form Tutors and Team to organise and coordinate assemblies and tutor programme? In order to develop a strong Sixth Form culture
- To support Vice Principal, Director of Sixth Form and Head of Years 12 and 13, as required, in investigating any behavioural incidents and implementing sanctions and interventions as appropriate
- To support the transition of students from Year 11 into Year 12 and then from Year 13 into their next steps through effective planning and induction in Terms 5 and 6 of the preceding year
- To work alongside the Director of Sixth Form, develop a programme to ensure the Sixth Form has a high profile and strong presence from Year 7 – to 11, through a programme to include, for example, assemblies, talks, Tutor activities
- To work with the Academy’s Creative Services and Marketing Coordinator to market and promote the SKA Sixth Form offer both internally and externally
- To support the Director of Sixth Form to develop distinctive programme of post-16 study pathways, linking with key local businesses and training providers.
- To support Parent Review meetings, Parent Forums and other Sixth Form events as required
- To liaise with specialised support staff and outside agencies as required
- To support the Director of Sixth Form write Academy UCAS references and support Tutors and students in the UCAS admissions process
- To liaise with the Student House Leadership supporting them in their various responsibilities and arity works
- To Lead on the management of Sixth Form Prefects and their contribution to wider Academy life.
- To set up an Alumni association to develop further links with past students and maintain existing links so that current students can benefit from their experiences and expertise.
- To develop, alongside the Director of Sixth Form the understanding of Parents and Carers in the offer of the IBCP
- To deputise when required for the Director of Sixth Form in their absence
- Take a lead on Sixth Form student voice
- Sustain and make strong and productive relationships with parents and families and other external agencies
- Alongside the Director of Sixth Form, line manage subjects taught discretely within the Academy’s Sixth Form offer
