Job description
The GRiPC Primary Care Network is looking for a qualified and motivated Pharmacy Technician to support our dynamic multi-disciplinary team which includes doctors, nurses, ANPs, HCAs, pharmacists, social prescribers, mental health practitioners, physiotherapists and physicians associates.
The post holder will play an active role in improving co-ordination and effective pharmacy administration within PCN practices, undertaking both patient-facing and administrative work to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and efficient systems for repeat prescribing, medicines optimisation, reduction of medicines waste and maximising patient outcomes.

Job Responsibilities
- Carry out medicines optimisation tasks including effective medicine administration, supporting medication reviews and medicines reconciliation post-discharge and other transfers of care.
- Process repeat medication requests, including the conversion of acute requests to repeat medicines, changing quantities of medicines as required.
- Promote Electronic Repeat Dispensing (eRD) and online ordering as appropriate to patient and practice needs.
- Implement efficient ordering and return processes and reduce medication wastage, liaising with patients as needed.
- Work with pharmacy team to develop safe, effective and efficient systems for repeat prescribing.
- Support the PCN to deliver on QIPP agenda, QOF and IIF targets and locally commissioned enhanced services.
- Monitor practice adherence to practice, local and national prescribing policies.
- Act as a point of contact for both patients and colleagues with medication queries.
- Assist with the development and implementation of systems to ensure safe and effective monitoring of high-risk medication.
- Support initiatives for antimicrobial stewardship to reduce inappropriate antibiotic prescribing.
- Review and analyse prescribing data across the network using available tools producing reports and feedback for practices.
- Review and develop policies in line with CQC compliance.
- Liaise with secondary and primary care colleagues to ensure correct medicines are continued following the transfer of care.
- Undertake, participate and share outcomes of clinical audits to facilitate improvement.
- Implement changes to medication that result from CAS/MHRA alerts, product withdrawal and other local/national guidance.
Essential
- Professional registration with GPhC
- BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences
- Experience of working as a qualified, registered pharmacy technician in primary care, or in hospital or community pharmacy
- Evidence of continued professional development (CPD)
Desirable
- Experience of working in a GP practice
- Experience with EMIS Web
