We are looking for an enthusiastic Pharmacy Support Worker who will assist the department in the delivery of a comprehensive Pharmacy service.
The post holder will be required to provide a variety of pharmacy support duties to the stores area involving receipt of pharmaceutical products, stock control, ward top-up and distribution.
Pharmacy and/or NHS Hospital experience preferable but not essential, but applicants must holdGCSE English & Mathematics grade C or above (or equivalent)

1. To provide a variety of pharmacy support duties to the stores and dispensary involving receipt of pharmaceutical products, labelling, assembling, preparing and dispensing medicines, stock control, ward top-up and distribution.
2. Ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
3. Ensure the timely and efficient delivery of requests for pharmaceutical products across the Trust by the issuing of signed orders and dispensing prescriptions.
4. Participate in the Pharmacy ward collection and delivery service throughout the hospital.
(GENERAL)
1. Complying with all Trust and departmental policies and standard operating procedures on a daily basis.
2. Participating in departmental rotas for weekend working.
3. Undertaking such duties as may be required to maintain a safe and effective pharmacy service.
4. Participating in audits as required by pharmacy staff.
5. Be committed to maintaining a high quality service to patients.
6. Standing for long periods of time on a daily basis whilst working in the Pharmacy department and on wards with prolonged periods of time at a computer.
7. Accurately input data into the pharmacy computer system recording details of issuing medicines to patients and areas of the Trust.
8. Ensuring own computer transactions are performed accurately, maintaining stock levels and quality of data.
9. Identifying stock shortages and communicating with the procurement officer or dispensary manager, regarding urgency and availability.
10. Maintaining the shelves and storage areas in a neat and tidy manner ensuring a good rotation of stock. This also includes returning used dispensing containers to their allocated locations.
11. Performing daily stock checks, investigating discrepancies, informing the dispensary manager and making accurate adjustments to written and computer records.
12. Performing monthly checks to locate expired stock. Removing and disposal of expired stock. Updating of computer records and liaising with the dispensary manager and procurement officer to reorder vital drugs.
