Oak Tree Pharmacy are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacy Assistant to join our expanding friendly and dynamic team for three to four days per week (27-36 hours).

Job Description
A Pharmacy Assistant is an active role and provides a point of contact for patients and acts as a focal point of communication between patients, GPs and other medical staff. They also assist the GPs and Pharmacist in their efforts to offer an effective and efficient repeat prescription service.
Candidates must have excellent organisational skills and able to work under pressure with competing deadlines. This role is patient facing, and candidates must be happy to interact with patients for large parts of the day. Previous experience of working in Primary Care or in a Pharmacy would be desirable but is not essential. Training is available and as a Practice we ensure staff have access to ongoing personal development. Duties expected in this role include the following:
- To work as a member of the Dispensing/Pharmacy Team by assisting the Dispensers with clerical duties associated with the smooth running of the department
- To receive repeat and some acute prescriptions made either in person or by telephone
- To be the first point of contact for medication queries from patients
- To treat patients at all times in a courteous and helpful manner, dealing with queries and providing assistance as required
- Ensure Reception area is clean and tidy and equipment is working to maintain a professional image.
- Report any problems to the Pharmacy Lead or Practice Manager
- To answer the telephone and make required calls in a polite and professional manner
- Issue completed prescription items to patients or their representatives
- Input repeat medication requests using the practice computer system
- Receive and balance prescription monies and cheques received
- Organise Doctors prescriptions for signing
- Unpack and check incoming medication orders from the supplier
- To maintain baskets for current prescriptions only and the removal of out of date prescriptions
- To ensure safe disposal of returned medication
- Complete photocopying of medication pack leaflets and other items when necessary
- Candidates should be computer literate and possess excellent communication skills.
- To abide by statutory and Practice regulations regarding fire, health and safety and security issues
- To be able to cover holiday/sickness as and when needed

Usual working hours are 08:30-18:30 Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday morning cover required.
