Job description
Part-time hours: Usually averaging 23-33 per week.

Salary: £11.00 per hour
The work involves all aspects of helping in a busy Kennels and Cattery. At peak times we may have up to 70 dogs and 60 cats, also various rabbits, mice, birds, rats, hamsters etc.
There is a lot of outside work, run cleaning, exercising, food preparation and feeding, medication, etc. Also unblocking drains, power washing, painting, and other maintenance in general when it’s quieter. We also have horses, goats, sheep and poultry which may need to be looked after.
Every 3rd weekend (or more) the successful applicant will also be responsible for the business, when they will be in charge, including organising student helpers. This also includes coming back in the afternoon and evening to feed, check, medicate and look after all pets in our care.....
We operate a booking program, and all staff must be able to operate a computer.
We have a small retail outlet and sales from this need to be recorded on the till.
The successful applicant must be able to deal with the customers and understand their requirements for their pet, take bookings over the phone, and operate the till.
If you consider us to be operating like a ‘pet hotel’ then we are looking for a person to be: receptionist, porter, front of house manager, cleaner, gardener and cook as well. This list is not exhaustive!
Criteria:
*The successful applicant will have a mature outlook on life, have excellent health, be able to work outside in all weather.
* Have a good attitude and work ethic and able to deal with members of the public.
* A clean driving license and access to a car.
* Like animals, and not have allergies!
* Although not essential, probably live within 10 miles of Elgin.
Holidays cannot be taken during school holidays and you must work every 3rd weekend, as per the organised rota. For instance we work Christmas, Boxing, Hogmanay and New Year’s Day.
NORMALLY The hours involved work out at about 22-33 per week. This is on a rolling 6 week schedule with other staff, and so some weeks have more hours than others.
