Job description
Male OR Female Personal Care Assistant/Support Worker required to assist a young man with a Physical Disability living in the Rutherglen area.
You would be required to provide one to one care and assistance within the home attending to personal care and participation in social activities.
Favourite activities are Cookery, PS4, tandem cycling (adapted sports), also has a keen interest in football and socialising. Hoping to start courses from January, required to travel with him.
Your duties would involve assisting with tasks such as:
- Attending to all personal care needs.
- Assisting with medication such as eye drops.
- Assisting with water and PEG feeding is required – Training will be provided.
- Moving and assisting - pushing manual wheelchair.
- Assisting going out for walks required to push wheelchair
- Assisting with correspondence e.g. answering letters and assisting in the kitchen area
- Any other daily living tasks to promote independent living
The role requires close personal contact with an individual who is extremely vulnerable to the risk of infection and disease transmission. Preference may be given to applicants who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Careful consideration will be given to applicants who can show the vaccination is not suitable for them on reasonable grounds.
Must take a proactive and innovative approach to support and encourage individual to be involved in activities suited to their needs.
Experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
The most important qualities are a warm and friendly nature and a desire to work within a caring role.
Pets in the household – you must be comfortable working with a dog in the home.
Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
