Job Introduction

This role sits in the finance and business services team of BBC Media Action - the international charity of the BBC that uses media and communications to help people in some of the world’s poorest and most fragile countries. Our projects and programmes save lives, protect livelihoods, counter misinformation, challenge prejudice and build democracy.

Main Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role will develop and deliver a comprehensive organisational and administrative support service to the CEO. The role will oversee the smooth running of the CEO office including providing ad hoc support to other management team members as required.


Working collaboratively across all departments this role will provide support in the preparation of internal and external meetings including agendas, papers and other tasks as directed. The role will also support the good functioning of the Board of Trustees and Finance and Audit Committee meetings in all related matters and be an excellent communicator, managing the Board cycle and supporting the relationship with Trustees.

Working with the Office Manager the role will also ensure the effective day to day running of the office and be the first point of contact by email and telephone to BBC Media Action.

Are you the right candidate?

To be successful in this role you will need the following skills and experience:-

  • Experience providing high-level support in a similar personal assistant role, including diary management and complex meeting coordination.
  • Ability to use own initiative; be proactive and balance conflicting priorities.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and diplomacy in dealing with confidential information, sensitive issues, or high-profile contacts.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with people at various levels.
  • Strong computer skills with extensive demonstrable experience of office software packages (i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
