Our Opportunity
As the Manufacturing / Engineering Graduate you are responsible primarily for developing and sustaining the local 5S strategic approach, ensuring there is support for the 5S business initiative activities within the Industrial Supply Chain function. You will develop skills to lead and deliver primarily 5S transformation activities across the site, creating tangible plans for more efficient and higher standards of a sustainable 5S culture.
Your development will aim to coach and develop the local Industrial Supply Chain team to realise efficiencies of process and methodology deployment. Working to deliver the overall 5S planning, training, deployment and development of the site 5S standard & process across the whole of Industry, which includes Production, Stores & Office areas. Shape local industry 5S vision though the development and implementation of standards and processes that can be sustained to a desired level for your site.
Day to day responsibilities include;
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams across the business to develop and implement efficiencies in 5S processes and initiatives
- Create a network of 5S champions within the business to drive rapid process improvement and sustain gains
- Work with the Autonomous Production and Repair Units (APRU) Management to improve maturity and business culture towards 5S including training initiatives for functional new starts
- Carry out analysis of specific business processes and provide effective solutions for 5S improvement
- Interface with key stakeholders to gain buy-in to 5S improvement projects and support future state production area planning phases to ensure 5S is baked into their design and processes
- Drive successful implementation of improvement 5S activities ensuring a structured phased approach is followed
- Focus on engagement and understanding the business to identify improvement activity that improves maturity
- Deliver short training sessions in 5S tools
- Plan and co-ordinate all 5S activities / audits within your site to drive the improvements in 5S scores and maturity scores for the site
- Establish a reporting method for all 5S activities, initiatives and processes
- Audit lines / areas and develop means to hold them accountable
- Plan and control the labour booking for improvement 5S activities
About You
You will have awareness of 5S principles and how they relate to a manufacturing and office environment. Advantageous to this would be a further knowledge and practical understanding of Lean techniques within a manufacturing industry.
To be successful in the role, you will have the following knowledge and attributes:
- Demonstrable knowledge of how 5S relates to a manufacturing / office environment.
- Successful implementation of group related projects.
- Understanding of and familiarisation with 5S Tools
- Knowledge of Plan, Do, Check, Act approach
- Great interpersonal skills
- Goal driven individual
- Knowledge of lean tools/ techniques
- Logical approach in planning and executing tasks / strategies / projects
Due to the nature of the business candidates will need to be British Passport holders.
