Permits Officer (Permanent, Full Time)
Up to £29,000 dependent on experience plus 28 days holidays and wellbeing days, excellent pension scheme, life assurance and corporate discount scheme

What will I be doing?
As Permits Officer you will provide administrative and technical support to ensure that KCOM fulfils its duties and obligations under the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA).
You will have the responsibility to ensure that all Street works activity is planned, inspected, processed and carried out in accordance with regulations. You will be submitting notices and permits to local authorities, communicating with internal and external teams whilst ensuring accuracy and accountability at all times.
Some of your key accountabilities:
Raise permits and notices in accordance with NRSWA using notice management systems.- Manage active permits and notices to maintain compliance at all stages of the job, preventing Fixed Penalty Notices and Overrun charges.
- Updating and reporting from corporate work management systems to track work progress and maintain an accurate audit trail of permit and notice history.
- Manage notices and permits in line with Traffic Management requirements, including but not limited to bus stop suspensions and parking bay suspensions and road closures,
- Work closely to build strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders including relevant Highway Authorities, internal schedulers and operations
- Ensure all registrations are completed in accordance with regulatory timescales
- Ensure that all permit requests are made in compliance with NRSWA and where irregularities are identified address these in an appropriate manner to ensure effective and efficient co-ordination and monitoring of works
- To ensure compliance with policy, process and procedures as developed by KCOM in relation to ensuring compliance with the NRSWA legislation.
- Ensure that the Permit system is managed and updated as required in order to use the system to report activity
What do I need to do this job?
The successful candidate will have experience submitting notices/permits, will have competent IT skills including the ability to adapt to various software and hardware and have the ability to manage time and workloads to a strict schedule and complete tasks in a timely manner.
Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail as well as excellent time management with the ability to work to tight deadlines is essential.
