Through our brands, our Group has a relationship with just about every household and community in the UK. We underpin the lives of millions of individuals and businesses and play such a meaningful role in helping to build a growing UK economy.
Service Team
Identification & Authentication (ID & Auth) is a key area within the Group Transformation division. It is the Centre of OAUTH2 solutions for the retail internet banking, mobile, and commercial teams to our 14+ million online retail, commercial and internal customers.
Within Service Team our approach to hybrid working is still emergent but you should expect to be in office circa 2 days per week with home-working available for the remaining days.
Want to know more?
As a performance engineer within the authentication service team, you'll have shared responsibility for the support and development of the current performance/monitoring tool sets (Splunk & Dynatrace) and helping to optimise the performance of key APIs by working with developers to obtain the best performance out of the ID&Auth applications/APIs.
This role will consist of tuning application logs in Splunk, creating dashboards and alerts to enable the production support team to identify and prevent or recover performance and availability issues. It will also involve some hands-on analytics of how APIs are working, looking to tune configurations and the application code itself with support from our development teams.
You'll provide subject matter expertise to help extract business and technical insights across our critical services.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is passionate, inspiring and customer-obsessed, ensuring that the team are always focused on the priorities that will deliver the best outcomes for our customers and colleagues.
We're hugely proud of the relationships we hold with our clients and key partners as trusted delivery providers. This is key to our success.
Our culture brings together experienced, hardworking people, from a diverse group of backgrounds that enjoy a collaborative and innovative environment that supports flexible and agile working, always learning and improving ourselves and sharing knowledge.
What would you get involved with?
- Liaise with developers and product owners to understand new web or mobile app journeys, apps and associated infrastructure stacks and assist with on boarding of Splunk logs in line with defined standard methodologies and deliver both operational and business data dashboards and alerts.
- You'll provide SME knowledge on the use of Splunk; defining, implementing and educating various teams on Splunk and logging standards
- Develop and support the API Platform in delivering new features and providing the right support for the team.
- You'll work closely with the 24/7 application support and operations teams to create and maintain the suite of monitoring alerts and dashboards, for the live service supporting over 14m customers
- You'll drive the delivery of new feature sets, working closely with partner resources to run POC/POV exercises on new Splunk/Dynatrace roadmap functionality, helping to build business cases for investment and taking ownership of the planning and delivery to live
- You'll seek opportunities to innovate with new capabilities in the market and tool integrations, performing experiments and POC exercises to drive best in class monitoring and insight capabilities, especially as LBG moves towards a multi-cloud technology strategy
- You'll help plan and deliver coaching for internal and wider colleagues, enabling the various product labs and Value Streams to deliver and develop their own dashboard and monitoring capabilities. You'll be instrumental in delivery of our strategy to become a ‘Centre Of Excellence’ for the operational performance monitoring and insights
