Job description
This role sits in the Analytics and Insight team within PAI, which is responsible for carrying out both quantitative and qualitative analysis and insight on HMRC people data. This role will support the delivery of quantitative analysis projects, activity includes: data modelling, forecasting, simulation as well as other data science techniques.
This will involve working alongside analysts with varying experience and key stakeholders. You will be involved in critical project work influencing key organisation decisions such as “What are the key drivers of Employee Engagement?”, “How will diversity representation rates change over time?”, “How many employees will leave HMRC each year and what impact will this have?”, “What workforce capacity will be available during periods of high demand?”
Person specification
- Work with a project lead to understand customer analytical requirements, and design analytical solutions which will deliver valuable insight.
- Successful delivery of analytical project work to an agreed schedule.
- Make delivery outputs accessible and easy to understand to all relevant parties.
- Take personal responsibility for the delivery of analytical projects, including information gathering from our HMRC network.
- Validation and interpretation of data to ensure information needs are met and data quality issues are raised.
- Proactively raise any risks which will impact delivery timescales.
- Collective and effectively communicate with key stakeholders to ensure expectations are managed.
Essential Criteria
- Experience of using and statistical software packages such as SAS / R / SPSS and strong Excel skills.
- Ability to share analysis in a clear and simple manner to expert and non-expert audiences.
- Excellent time management skills being able to set priorities, objectives and timescales with stakeholders
- Proven ability to breakdown tasks into smaller logical steps with a strong attention to detail to ensure outputs meet quality standards.
- Degree level / equivalent qualification in a numerate/related subject or recent proven experience working in an analytical environment.
Experience of two or more of the following techniques:
- Manipulating large datasets,
- Predictive analytics,
- Segmentation analysis,
- Hypothesis Testing,
- Data modelling,
- Optimisation,
- Simulation,
- Machine learning.
