Job description

Main Purpose of Role:

To lead and develop the payroll function. To administer the Group’s monthly payroll ensuring accuracy and timeliness of both the payroll itself and associated management reporting of payroll costs and headcount. Ensure compliance with the regulations of the HMRC and other regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the payroll department and administer the group’s monthly payroll.
  • Manage the maintenance of the payroll including pay elements, deductions, departmental and cost centre set up together with the nominal interface.
  • Manage the development of the payroll administrator which will include:

o managing the PDR process

o recommending and agreeing a development plan for the administrator

o ensure the agreed development plans are executed by regularly reviewing progress against the plan

  • Manage and assist in the completion of the financial balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Manage the control process around auto enrolment.
  • Maintain the Sage P11d system and complete the P11d reporting process annually.
  • Manage the control process around re-imbursement of private miles.
  • Complete the reporting of headcount and payroll costs on a timely basis (monthly and weekly) and continually investigate opportunities to improve.

Technical Competence:

  • Previous experience as Payroll Manager in a manufacturing environment, ideally on payroll of c 500+ employees
  • Strong technical/legal understanding of payroll
  • Previous experience of managing a small payroll team
  • Proven experience of implementing auto enrolment and general payroll administration
  • Strong MS Office and Payroll systems, Amity Payroll system desirable but not essential
  • Holding a payroll qualification is desirable.

  • Ensure internal Customers (employees) are paid on a timely basis in line with agreed terms
  • Ensure the requirements of external parties (HMRC, pension fund provider) are met in a timely

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: Up to £41,500.00 per year

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

  • Moy Road Industrial Estate, CF15 7QR: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
