Role Summary:
The Payroll Manager is responsible for managing all activities and resources of the Payroll Department, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for over 1700+ employees nationally through UKG Pro and in compliance with company standards, Wage & Hour regulations, and best practices. This role will oversee and lead remote payroll team members and align HRIS, Payroll operations and payroll tax processes and workflow.
Key Accountabilities:
- As member of HR Leadership team strategically establish policies, processes, and procedures including audits that ensure accurate and timely calculation of wages, tax, and deductions as required.
- Reviews and approves payrolls, off cycle payrolls, special payments such as sales commission payments, annual short-term incentive, long term incentives, and W2s to ensure completion in a timely manner and in accordance with departmental procedures and applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- Manages the process for creating focus and workflow on remote hiring initiatives Nationwide.
- Develop, recommend, and lead new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements and efficiency of the payroll function.
- Research and monitor employment practice laws, potential compliance issues, legislative changes, and system updates and become a trusted resource to the HR teams.
- Identify and lead payroll/HRIS projects that enhance payroll processes aimed at increasing efficiency, compliance, quality, and automation as much as possible.
- Collaborate with the HR, HRIS, and Finance with resolution of escalated issues and high priority cases.
- Manage and develop members of the payroll team by coaching, monitoring, and managing performance.
- Ensure compliance and monitor changes and remain current on legal, regulatory, or governmental requirements (e.g., wage and hours, garnishments, tax matters, 403(b) and other benefit deductions)
- Ensure the timely and accurate processing of quarterly and annual state, local, and federal tax filings.
- Oversee the accurate and timely production of W2 forms annually.
- Maintains all levels of confidentiality, especially with sensitive payroll information.
- Actively participate in the implementation of new payroll/HR technology
- Ensure payroll procedures are documented and updated periodically.
- Work closely with HRIS to ensure accurate and timely set up of earnings and deduction codes, and other payroll-related setups.
- Work closely with Finance to resolve payroll-related items.
- Back up for the Payroll Administrator and Sr. Payroll Analyst.
- Manage and participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of progressive experience managing multi-state payroll processing operations or 10+ years prior payroll management experience.
- Demonstrated 5+ years of UltiPro payroll experience required.
- Payroll experience to include mergers/acquisitions, people management experience, and leading teams and projects across payroll.
- Advanced knowledge of payroll policies, workflows, regulations, and payroll compliance
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulations governing payment, taxation, and reporting of wages.
- Strong proficiency with Excel and use of formulas, pivot tables, and vlookups

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
