This Payroll Manager position is offered on a permanent basis, on a 3.5 day working week, that can be worked either as 9am to 3pm Monday to Friday or; 2 full days and 3 half days Monday to Friday. Our client is open to discussions about a candidate's preferred working week.
As Payroll Manager, you’ll be working closely with the HR team so some experience of understanding people matters would be helpful, but is not essential. Numerical, analytical skills and accuracy are of paramount importance. The Payroll Manager needs excellent attention to detail as well as good communication skills, required for effective liaison with management and employees throughout the organisation
Payroll Manager Role and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage the payroll process for 2 x UK monthly payrolls (c260 UK employees), a small German payroll, a small Spanish payroll, a small Italian Payroll and a small Irish Payroll, utilising the QTAC (UK Payroll) and Cloud Pay (International Payroll) platform.
- Ensure all payroll related functions are carried out efficiently in accordance with company policies, procedures and working practices.
- Ensure that correct payments, reports and returns are made to HMRC, utilising Government Gateway (including monthly and year-end returns), for our pension scheme and other statutory bodies. Provide these organisations with appropriate information on pay, if required.
- Liaise with HR staff regarding new appointments, terminations, absence and other relevant matters.
- Assist the HRD in the management of the annual pay review, achieving consistency and fairness of remuneration across similar job types plus instruction and management of company bonus plans.
- Management of the Apprenticeship Levy, including monthly payments and administration of apprentices employed via the levy.
- Maintain a high level of professional integrity. Employees should be able to trust you with payroll matters and managing their personal information.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Excellent numerical ability and data entry skills.
- Accurate and methodical worker, with good attention to detail.
- A detailed knowledge of payroll systems, taxation and national insurance rules.
- Detailed knowledge of PAYE and its regulations.
- Experience in a payroll post, preferably in a medium to large organisation with one or more monthly payrolls.
- Good experience using Excel and/or Google Sheets.
- Pensions and auto enrolment management experience.
- A finance related degree or CIPP diploma would be preferred.
- Some German language speaking ability would be helpful, although not essential.
