An excellent opportunity for an experienced Payroll Assistant to join a growing, forward thinking Yorkshire based accountancy practice. With offices in both the Leeds and York areas, this is a great time to join a business that prides itself on its staff retention and is very well known within the market. Salary is up to £30,000 (depending on experience) and the benefits package includes a holiday allowance of up to 30 days holiday (including bank holidays), with a free day off for your birthday and a gifted day at Christmas, opportunity to potentially earn bonus and regular recognition awards for the team. The Payroll Assistant will report into the Team Leader and will work closely with their payroll clients providing excellent service.
Key responsibilities for the successful Payroll Assistant will include:
- Accurately processing a range of monthly, fortnightly and weekly payrolls for a variety of Clients
- Payroll administration including processing new starters and leavers
- Dealing with PAYE, SMP, SPP, SAP, SSP, ShPP and CIS calculations and queries
- Processing and calculating other legislative/statutory payments
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- General ad-hoc duties and supporting the wider finance team
We are keen to speak with candidates who have previous experience in a pure payroll position, or where payroll has been part of your role and you are looking to move into a practice setting, or you may already have experience of working within an accountancy practice environment. You may be a Payroll Administrator, Payroll Assistant, Payroll Executive, Payroll Technician or Payroll Officer or Processor.
This opportunity would also ideally suit an individual qualified, studying or looking to study their CIPP (Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals) or AAT qualified.
Based within the Leeds or York areas, this role is easily commutable from surrounding areas such as Bradford, Huddersfield, Halifax, Catterick, Thirsk and Malton.
To be successful in this Payroll Assistant opportunity you will ideally have/be:
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice or you will have an interest in securing a role within a practice environment
- Knowledge of payroll and auto-enrolment pension principles and practices
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills, as well as being able to meet multiple deadlines under strict deadlines
- Fast and accurate data entry skills
- Computer literate and will ideally have experience of using Microsoft packages, Payroll Manager, Sage Payroll, Sage Business Cloud, Quickbooks or similar
- Experienced in various pension schemes such as Nest, Peoples Pension, Now etc.
