Full Time London, England 30000 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

A BIG TAPI WELCOME!

We’re Tapi, a flooring retailer with a difference, and we’re here to change the world (well… the flooring world at least). We’ve started a revolution and it’s contagious. In 7+ years, we’ve opened over 170+ stores and with a flock of mobile showrooms buzzing around the country, we’re serving our customers like they’ve never been served before. We've rapidly built our position as number 2 in scale, and number 1 in service in the UK since we were born. And we aren't stopping there...

Floors are what get us out of bed in the morning and putting a smile on our customers face is our daily motivation. We deliver incredible service for anybody, any house, and any budget.

Our (not-so-secret) secret to our success is our people. We aren't just a company, we are one big Tapi family: where everyone matters. We work as a team, try to do the right thing, and are always on the lookout for ways to be better. And we have an exciting opportunity to join us, as a Payroll Assistant.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are looking for a Payroll Assistant to support our Head of Payroll & Benefits.

Reporting to the Head of Payroll & Benefits you’ll be working with colleagues across the business to make sure we have all the information we need so that our people are paid correctly and on time every month.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be the first point of contact for all payroll queries, giving great service to our colleagues and really understanding what’s driving queries and what knowledge we can provide to our teams to reduce them.
  • Weekly reconciliation of timesheet information provided by our stores, ensuring that we have all the information that we need to accurately calculate our payroll each month. You’ll be liaising with people across the business to identify information that still needs to be provided or may need amending, and producing monthly files collating this information.
  • Keep up to date with all changes made to personal and job details for our colleagues in our People system, ensuring that these are updated in our Payroll system at the right time.
  • Assist with the monthly calculation and production of payroll for over 950 colleagues, most of whom have variable elements such as commissions and bonuses in their monthly pay. You’ll have a good eye for detail and will be able to assist with all checks and reconciliations of the payroll before monthly payslips are issued.
  • Process expense claims, ensuring that our colleague claims are paid correctly and on time.
  • Work closely with the People team, sharing knowledge to constantly improve the service we give to our colleagues.

SKILLS

  • Previous payroll experience
  • Good Excel skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Able to work well under pressure and prioritise workload effectively

ABOUT YOU:

You are genuinely passionate about payroll and looking for ways to simplify our current ways of working using the right tools and technology. You’ll relish the idea of challenging the status quo.

You have experience of a fast paced, retail business and recognise the challenges that come with multiple stores, and variable pay elements.

You have strong inter-personal skills, low ego, and want to collaborate with colleagues across the business to make sure you’ve fully understood a topic.

You have a thirst for knowledge and want to develop your ideas.

You build trusted and effective relationships. Establishing a trusted and open communication channel to the wider business will be an intrinsic part of the role.

You choose what is right, not what is easy, and you have the intelligence to sensitively build new ways of working and tools into the organisation. You are inquisitive, and you believe there is always a better way of doing things – whether iterative marginal gains, or big new ideas.

You are naturally self-motivated, enthusiastic, and keen to go above and beyond to achieve for the business.

You are excited about the prospect of spending time in our stores and warehouses so that you can really get to know our business.

If this is you, we'd love to hear from you!

THE BIG PACKAGE:

  • Up to £30k – depending on experience
  • Opportunity to study for CIPP Qualification
  • Staff discount
  • 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays
  • A day off for your birthday!
  • Pension scheme
  • Opportunities to become a shareholder of Tapi: Own a slice of the business and share in our success!
  • Work with a great team and see smiles on customers' faces... priceless
