When you sign up to work with us, you sign up to this and we welcome applicants who share our values Job overview Patient Pathway Assistant Band 3 The post holder will assist the provision of the highest quality patient care through dedicated administrative and clerical support to medical and administration staff and continuous improvement. The post holder will support all administrative and clerical issues relating to patients’ pathway of care, tracking and supporting them from referral to treatment &/or discharge. The post holder will provide a patient focused service that supports clinical staff in the provision of efficient integrated pathways that enable the best use of resources and ensure that patients are fit, willing and able to be treated and that they are treated in the right place, by the right person, at the right time. Interview Date: TBC Main duties of the job An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the administration team for the Orthotics Service, which falls under the Trauma & Orthopaedic Department, based at Epsom Hospital. The ideal candidate will need to be able to work in a calm, logical and methodical way whilst being able to multi-task in a busy environment with complex patient pathways. This role will predominantly involved booking appointments via telephone and email, answering calls from patients, organising stocks and general administration as required. This role involves working closely with the Orthotics Supervisor and Orthotist. The ideal candidate will be polite, friendly and helpful, with an excellent telephone manner. Knowledge of the 18 week RTT guidelines and previous NHS/private hospital experience would be advantageous but is not essential as training will be offered for the right candidate. You should be confident using Microsoft Word & Excel to an intermediate level and have previous customer/patient service experience. This post is based at Epsom Hospital, but may have occasional travel to St Helier to cover sickness / leave when necessary. Ideally you would be able to work flexibly to support sickness/leave. This role would suit someone looking to work around schools hours. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria Good general education with GCSE or equivalent in English at grade C or above. Desirable criteria NVQ level 3 in Business Administration or Customer Care or equivalent Experience Essential criteria Experience of customer care. Desirable criteria Knowledge of patient administration work in a healthcare setting Knowledge and Skills Essential criteria The ability to prioritise tasks effectively with some direction. Knowledge of databases, spreadsheets e.g. Excel or similar applications. Desirable criteria Experience of working on ERS (E-referral service) Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection principles Personal Attributes Essential criteria Demonstrates interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Able to identify when to seek advice and escalate complaints/problems. Flexible working Essential criteria Willingness to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the service.
